Miller is two-time winner

A fourth-grader at Pine Tree Elementary this fall, Jacob Miller won the boys 9-10-year-old 50-meter dash and 100-meter dash championships at the State Hershey Track and Field Meet in Holt, Michigan on July 9.
Miller won the 50-meter dash for the second straight year, and had a winning time of 14.86 in the 100-meter dash, faster than the winning time in the age group (11-12-year-old) above his.
Miller also finished third in the softball throw. Miller is the son of Stephen and Laurie Miller of Lake Orion.
Overall, 22 Lake Orion athletes competed in the annual event. Athletes qualified for the state meet by finishing in first place at the local Lake Orion Dragon GAP Hershey Meet, held in June. Over 1,000 athletes from around the state, representing over 60 communities, competed in the state meet.
Other Lake Orion athletes who earned All-State recognition were: In second place in the 11-12-year-old girls division, the 4×100 meter relay team of Alyssa Mason, Jessica LaBond, Jamie Tasco and Devan Moore.
In third place in the 11-12-year-old boys division, Duke Wang in the standing long jump (Wang broke the state long jump record on his second attempt of the finals, however two other athletes also broke the record to finish in front of him in the standings).
In fourth place of the 11-12-year-old girls division of the 400-meter dash, LaBond; and in fifth place of the 9-10-year-old girls division, the 4×100 meter relay team of Miranda Lieblein, Julie Kline, Audrey Leko and Phallon Perry.
In sixth place of the 11-12-year-old boys 200- meter dash, Alex O’Dea; and in seventh place of the 11-12-year-old boys softball throw, Rich Eaton.
In eighth place in the 11-12-year-old boys 400- meter dash, Jeffrey Slavick; and the 9-10-year-old boys division 4×100 relay team of Aidan Faber, Erich Klingelhofer, Eric Mason and Nicholas Deeg.
Also competing for Lake Orion in the state meet were: Jeffrey Heath, Ron Ostezan, Mike Broch, Matthew Kuehl, Keri Scipione, Alexandra Ostezan and Kathryn Miller.
