Friendship Park tree honors cancer survivors

Just weeks after the annual Lake Orion Relay for Life was held at Waldon Middle School, Pulte Homes honored cancer survivors (many of whom took part in the relay), by donating a Hawthorne Tree at Friendship Park. Survivors posed for a picture around the newly- planted tree at the park at the corner of Clarkston and Baldwin Roads in June. Relay chairperson Teri Donaldson said a walkway around the tree will be coming soon, with personalized bricks available for $35 in the fall. ‘Putting a healthy, young tree in the ground is a symbol of celebration, representing life, hope, growth and continuity,? said Donaldson. ‘A vibrant, beautiful tree benefits everyone in this generation and future generations and is, perhaps, the most fitting memorial we can give to a person.?
