This year marks the 15th year Caruso Chiropractic Clinic in Lake Orion has hosted a Canned Food Drive to benefit FISH of Oxford/Orion.
Each November, Caruso Chiropractic has held this food drive in celebration of its Nov. 26 anniversary date. This year’s food drive takes place from Nov. 7-12.
According to Dr. Sam Caruso, owner of Caruso Chiropractic, ‘Every year this food drive gets bigger and better. It is a fun and busy week, and well worth it.?
This year also marks the first year of the food drive at their new location in downtown’a larger, completely renovated, and state-of-the-art facility.
The food drive is intended to not only benefit the individuals that FISH assists, but also residents in the Lake Orion and Oxford area that would like to receive chiropractic care.
In exchange for a bag of canned or nonperishable food, current patients will receive one free adjustment and new patients will receive a free initial exam and X-rays.
‘Our goal has always been to help people; this food drive gives us a chance to help in more ways than one,? Dr. Caruso said.
Dr. Caruso chose FISH of Orion/Oxford because it is a local organization doing wonderful work, and he wanted to give back to the community.
FISH is a local family service organization that provides emergency groceries, transportation, holiday food baskets and gifts, and financial assistance for critical needs such as utilities, rent, and prescriptions to needy citizens in the area. Every year, FISH assists hundreds of households in the Lake Orion/Oxford area.
According to Trisha Donaldson, Vice-President of the FISH Board of Directors, ‘Without food drives such as the one Dr. Caruso is conducting, we could not serve the number of people we do. In light of many donations going to relief efforts for Hurricane Katrina this year, we will probably see even more of a need for donations than in the past. This assistance helps us do the things we do.?
Canned and nonperishable food items can be accepted at the clinic Monday’Friday, 9 a.m.?1 p.m. and 3 ?7:00 p.m., plus on Saturday from 10 a.m.’noon. Caruso Chiropractic is located in downtown Lake Orion at 25 S. Lapeer Street.
