You can brighten someone’s holiday season. Oxford/Orion FISH has a holiday gift program to help those in the community who are living on a tight budget.
FISH is a local volunteer agency that helps low income people with emergency food and rent/utility bills. Traditionally, it does special outreach programs during the holidays.
AngelFISH will match those in need with those willing to give. Everyone knows how small children are looking for just the right toy — sometimes substitutes won’t do.
Instead of donating a random toy to a general toy drive, you’ll be able to select a toy that a child has especially requested. AngelFISH allows a donor to adopt one person and select a preference ? adult or child, male or female.
Of course, there is no reason that they can’t adopt more than one person if they wish to be more generous.
Each donor that agrees to purchase gifts for a person will receive clothing size information and a short list of gifts on their person’s wish list.
There are people of all ages on the AngelFISH request list. Often times, people think only of children hoping for toys and fail to remember senior citizens on fixed incomes or single parents sacrificing for their children.
To participate, donors and individuals or families requesting assistance should call 248-693-0638 as soon as possible. The deadline for individuals and families requesting assistance is Nov. 30.
Donors will need to complete their shopping by Dec. 9. All gifts will be distributed to families on Dec. 10th.
If you would like to adopt someone but don’t have the time to shop, FISH will gladly accept cash donations or gift cards and will send volunteers to shop for you.
