Although the Lake Orion Village Council voted to approve his hiring over a month ago, Michael Barnett has yet to accept the position as new DPW superintendent, according to Village Manager JoAnn Van Tassel.
The council approved his hiring at their March 13 meeting. He was to be paid a salary of $49,400 per year, and would have six months to relocate within 20 miles of the village.
Van Tassel said she heard Barnett had possibly accepted another position closer to his home.
Because of this, the position is again being advertised.
