Oxford firefighter Randy Darnell was sentenced Tuesday to 30 days in Oakland County Jail and 24 months probation for the Feb. 14 assault of his girlfriend at the time.
Judge Lisa L. Asadoorian passed sentence on Darnell in Rochester Hills 52-3 District Court following his April 25 no contest plea to a misdemeanor charge of domestic violence.
Darnell, 30, has been a paid-on-call firefighter and Emergency Medical Technician for Oxford since April 2001.
As part of his sentence, the judge ordered Darnell be considered for the work release program. He was ordered to attend Alcoholics Anonymous, an out-patient substance abuse program and a long-term domestic violence program.
Fire Chief Jack LeRoy said Darnell would continue to be prohibited from responding on any and all assault-related calls.
