High winds during Monday afternoon’s thunderstorm toppled this large maple tree in front of 110 Pontiac Street, across from Oxford Elementary School. Fortunately, the only damage was to some flowers. The home itself remained unharmed. Homeowner Dennis Ludwig said the tree was more than 100 years old. He recalled it was about 45 years old when his family moved to Pontiac Street in the early 1950s.
