Upland Hills School is pleased to announce the renaming of their tuition assistance program as ‘Nancy’s Fund.?
Nancy Jerger-Gauthier was a former parent and committed volunteer at the school. Last summer, she passed away after a courageous battle with cancer. As a way to honor her memory, family and friends joined together to initiate this idea.
According to her husband, Gary Gauthier, ‘As a former public school teacher, Nancy was thoroughly convinced that the support of parents and the passion and commitment of teachers play a larger role in quality education. Back in 1985, when we enrolled our eldest daughter, Mardi, we found such a school with Upland Hills. By creating a nurturing environment, both the welfare and education of children are well attended. Nancy would not have wanted to hear a parent say, ‘I wanted to send my child to Upland Hills School but I couldn’t afford it.? By supporting Nancy’s Fund, we can keep that from happening.?
This Saturday, during the school’s annual auction fundraiser, held at Twin Lakes Golf and Swim Club, a presentation of the program to the community will take place. During the live auction, Gary Gauthier will match some of the raised proceeds for ‘Nancy’s Fund.?
Tickets are still available for the event. Contact Linda Bowers at (248)693-2878 to purchase your ticket or to make a direct donation to ‘Nancy’s Fund.?
