Lake Orion will open the 2008 football season against Division I west-side powerhouse Rockford.
The game will be played as part of the fourth annual Big Day Prep Showdown at Rynearson Stadium on the Eastern Michigan University campus. The Dragons opened their 2005 season with a 35-6 win over Troy in the first-ever showdown.
Rockford won back-to-back state titles in 2004 and 2005 and fell to current two-time defending state champion Macomb Dakota in the 2006 title game.
The game will be played on Friday, Aug. 29, and will likely we the showcase’s top game.
