Special to the Leader
Yet another season played by the Oxford Lightning basketball team, but this time it ended a little differently.
This season, the team had a few changes to their game plan. The girls have been practically playing all year round, so some of the players decided not to play and to take some time off. This left only eight girls from the previous season who stuck together, and made some miracles happen.
The girls who stuck through this season were fully dedicated to making the most of what they had. Teammates included Miranda Murphy, Riley Hayes, Kelsey Harrison, Emma Kimmel, Ally Olson, Courtnee Sellers, Lindsay Noskey and Cheyanna Green.
Their final season record was 10-5. In the end, the girls had their best season by winning their first ever playoff game, than another and in the end made it to the championship. They played their best, but were unable to come through with a win.
The girls all agreed on a special thank you to both coach Mike Harrison and coach Brian Murphy.
‘Coach Harrison and coach Murphy were one of the main reasons we made it to the championship because they pushed us to do better and gave us all advice on how to make our team stronger,? said Lindsay Noskey.
By watching the girls? first game and comparing it to their last, one could really see the improvement.
‘If they improve this much every season, they’re going to be great when it comes to high school,? said coach Harrison.
The girls are hoping to win a few more games before they take a break until next season. Just this past Saturday, they won two out of three games at a tournament in Burton.
