Man rescues capsized boaters from lake

Two men are safe today after a local hero rescued them from their capsized boat on Lakeville Lake Sunday night.
Addison Twp. resident Michael Halas, 32, and Bancroft resident Charles Fay, 38, were out on the lake when a gust of wind flipped their boat. They were able to stabilize themselves on the bottom of the sinking boat in the 38 degree water.
Luckily, Addison resident Duane Travis, 39, saw the entire fiasco and called 9-1-1 for help before rowing his aluminum fishing boat out to the victims.
Fay was transported to a local hospital for treatment of hypothermia and was released early the next morning.
