On June 23, a Brandon deputy on patrol observed a vehicle doing 55 mph in a posted 30 mph construction zone on Oakwood Road. He stopped the vehicle and asked the driver for his license. The driver replied that his license was suspended and gave the deputy his state identification. The deputy noticed boxes with fireworks behind the driver’s seat and asked him if they were illegal fireworks. He responded yes, that he bought them in Ohio over the weekend. A LEIN check showed the driver had a warrant for his arrest out of Fenton on an operating while intoxicated charge. He was issued citations for driving while license suspended, possession of illegal fireworks, and speeding. He was turned over to the Fenton Police, the fireworks were confiscated and the vehicle was impounded.
