~~~LOHS varsity coach Chuck Mahoney has decided to resign. He wants to spend more time with his family.
~~~For reasons unknown, Orion Township Clerk Marie English relieved five-year deputy clerk Susan Galeczka of that title on April 19.
~~~Village residents are voting on a bond election in July. The ballot question is seeking authorization by the village to borrow money ‘not to exceed a specific amount for water improvements (not defined). If the village can work out an agreement to buy Detroit water from Orion Township, the bonds don’t have to be sold.

~~~Owners Joe and Sue Zimmer opened their new Big Boy restaurant on Baldwin Road on Saturday.
~~~Mame Rusch of Orion Township’s Building Department said the number of building permits is up over 1982. Not a single permit was issued in 1982. During the past four months, the township has issued three new home permits.
~~~Ad: Neumaier’s IGA is selling 3 1/2 pots of Geraniums for 65 cents each, flats of Impatients and Begonias for $8.45.

~~~Members of Orion Township’s Planning Commission has recommended denial of a request to rezone property at Mill Lake/Baldwin Roads. Developers want to build a $2.5 million sports complex.
~~~The interior of the village hall/police department is being completely remodeled with the help of volunteer labor and a $1,500 material appropriation from the village council.
~~~Boy Scouts Don Milosch, Tom Grenier and Ken Green were installed with the rank of Eagle.

~~~An additional two to three mills will appear on village tax bills if voters approve $1.7 million in bonds for water supply improvement.
~~~Township trustees kept some of their November 1992 campaign promises by cutting special meeting compensations, ending longevity pay for the supervisor, clerk and treasurer and giving trustees an option to have township life and health insurance.
~~~Qualifying for the state meet are LOHS track team members Clint Verran, Steve Grace, Kurt Weger and Kurt Dubowski.

~~~’Return of the Jedi,? the new film which continues George Lucas? epic adventure which began with ‘Star Wars? and its sequel ‘The Empire Strikes Back,? opens Wednesday at the Oxford Cinema.
~~~The trailways commission has entered into an agreement with Penn Central Corporation to purchase the abandoned railroad right-of-way that extends from Lake Orion Village limits to Avon Township. The purchase price is $450,000.

~~~What has been called the ‘first circus to visit Lake Orion in 40 years? will be coming to town on June 20.
~~~A dedication program and open house was held Sunday for three recently completed schools — Pine Tree Elementary School, Stadium Elementary, and Junior High School.
~~~Oxford’s Village Council vetoed any plans to combine Oxford and Lake Orion. One of the reasons given was the merger would effectively limit or destroy two townships.
