GOODRICH- Score two more wins for the Goodrich Varsity Boys basketball team.
On Friday Jan. 10, the boys hosted the LakeVille Falcons and managed to pull out a 54-48 win.
“LakeVille is a good team, not a team we could just dismiss,” Coach Gary Barns said. “About 60 percent of our guys followed the game plan, but it seemed that we just couldn’t handle prosperity.”
The Martians had the upper hand by the half and led by 11 points. LakeVille worked hard in the second half and pulled the game to a tight margin.
“We missed a lot of easy shots in the second half,” Barns said. “We are still in the driver’s seat in the league however.
“I think that sometimes we forget that the teams we play are going to give us their best. A prime example is that we saw a team tonight who has had four 3-point plays all season, and they came out and made six three’s on us.
“We have a tough stretch of basketball ahead of us,” Barns added.
In the win over LakeVille Kori Garman led his team with 17 points, Kyle Gianotti added 13 points and Billy Bartley put up 12. Michael McCormick tallied 10 points.
Moving into play on Tuesday, Jan. 14 the boys traveled to Montrose to face the Rams.
Goodrich took the win 42-29. In the victory Gianotti led with 17 points, Garman added seven and McCormick put up five.
The Martians took on the GAC Blue division leaders, Hamady, on Friday, Jan. 17, however, scores were not available by press time.
The boys take on Mt. Morris on Jan. 21 at home. Game time is slated for 7:15 p.m.
