Remember your poppy

From Thursday, May 7 through Saturday, May 9, members of American Legion Auxiliary Unit 108 and the North Oakland VFW Post 334 will be out and about in the Oxford area handing out their familiar bright-red crepe paper poppies in exchange for donations.
Proceeds from the annual fund-raiser allow both local veterans groups to assist their comrades who are disabled, hospitalized or otherwise in need.
The poppy has become a world-wide recognized symbol of sacrifice and is worn to honor the men and women who served and died for their country, in all wars, including the Global War on Terror.
Don’t forget your poppy. Don’t forget to thank a veteran for his or her service. Don’t forget those who gave up all of their tomorrows for our today.
