Dear Editor:
(In response to:’At 90, A&W parties with cruise, music,? The Citizen, June 6, page 8)
I was pastor of Lakeview Community Church in Goodrich for five years (1999-2004). if you recall, I wrote a monthly article in the Church Line section of The Citizen during those five years. At times, I read The Citizen on the internet to see what’s going on back in Goodrich and Ortonville.
Your article about the A&W caught my eye, because I now pastor a church in Lodi, Calif. where Roy Allen created his root beer and opened the first A&W. It’s one of the historical things that Lodi is known for (besides the Creedence Clearwater song ‘Stuck in Lodi?).
I still miss the small town atmosphere of Goodrich (Lodi has 60,000 people). And yes, I even miss the weather (I’m one of the crazies who likes snow). Goodrich will always have a special place in my heart.
