Group seeks eco-conscious volunteers

As part of the ‘United We Serve? National Summer of Service Campaign, Clinton River Watershed Council hosts an Adopt-A-Stream volunteer training, Saturday, July 25, 10 a.m.-1 p.m., at the Lewis E. Wint Nature Center, Independence Oaks County Park, 9501 Sashabaw Road.
More than 200 volunteers already participate in the Adopt-A-Stream program throughout the Clinton River watershed. However, more volunteers are needed. Those interested do not need prior experience with water quality monitoring, just concern for local water quality, natural resources, and environment.
Volunteers should attend this three-hour training series and spend 2- 3 hours, two days a year monitoring a stream or river. Twice a year, May and October, volunteer teams visit their adopted sites and collect data, including physical, and biological information about the health of our waterways. Data collected by volunteers allow the council to develop a long-term record of aquatic organisms, habitat quality and stream conditions that can be used by local municipalities in developing and implementing programs to protect water quality. For registration or questions, call (248) 601-0606 or email contact@crwc.org. Additional sessions will be offered in August please check our calendar at www.crwc.org
