Clarkston Cares for Military Families, a community group of volunteers supporting local veterans, meets Wednesday, Dec. 2, 7:30 p.m., at St. Dan’s Cushing Center.
The group’s mission is to provide whatever support is needed to people in the military and their families throughout their deployment cycle, said volunteer Holly Workman.
In the Clarkston area, without a nearby military base, that means reservists.
“In the reserves, families live in communities without the support found on a military base,” Workman said. “You can feel isolated in the community. It seems ackward and uncomfortable. Friends and neighbors don’t understand. We want to get the word out.”
Goals include organizing community resources to provide financial, moral, and other kinds of support.
