With their creative ideas and ability to think on the spot the Pine Knob Elementary Tigers won first place in the regional Destination ImagiNation.
They competed against seven others in an improvisional challenge. Their challenge was title ‘Do or DI? and during September to February they researched 10 different things threatened with possible extinction and created 10 potential characters.
They were randomly assigned one of each and had seven minutes to develop a skit before they performed it in five minutes.
The skits called for improvisional acting, story development, theater arts, team work and technical innovation.
It was the second time in three years they won the competition in its category.
The team is made of one fourth-grader and five fifth-graders ? Caroline Dargay, Anne-Marie Dargay, Kalei McLennan, Mitchell Page, Alex Pouttu and Andrew Ross. Team managers are parents Ruth Dargay and Dawn McLennan.
They head to the state Destination ImagiNation competition on April 17 in Holt.
