Clarkston hitters may have a chilly team name but they know how to heat up the field.
The ICE-Silver 12U team won the Romeo Renegades tournament on June 27.
They took down five teams on their way to the championship, finally knocking down one more for an undefeated day.
It wasn’t the first tournament they won. The previous weekend they faced off with ICE 12Ufrom Akron, Ohio in the championship game on June 20 at the Compuware Classic Girls Fastpitch Tournament.
ICE-Silver 12U won the championship game 4-2, adding to their current 30-9 record.
The four day tournament is one of the most prestigious fastpitch tournaments in the country, ranked by Sports Illustrated Magazine.
Hundred teams came from Ohio, Illinios, Indiana, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Kentucky, and Canada for a chance to play the best and be the best.
ICE-Silver played seven games and went 6-1 for the weekend.
Mark Pingston, head coach, said the players? intensity grew with each game, every player contributed to the win.
“I am proud of them, our two assistant coaches and the parents for all of their dedication to our ICE program,? he added.
ICE-Silver has one more tournament before they head to Nebraska in July.
They will take part in the week long Cat Osterman Experience when they are in Nebraska. The experience includes an Olympic type tournament with 36 other 12U teams coming from around the nation participating.
Tryouts for all age groups for ICE fastpitch travel teams are August 14 and 15th at Clarkston High School.
ICE is hosting the 1st Annual ICE Breaker Fall tournament on September 25 and 26th at Bicentennial Park in Grand Blanc.
