Cats vs. Dragons: Rivalry renewed Friday

And so it begins . . .
After 27 long years, the Oxford and Lake Orion high school football teams will once again face each other on the gridiron at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 27.
The first meeting of this renewed rivalry will take place on the enemy’s soil at 495 E. Scripps Rd., east of M-24 in Orion Township.
According to Oxford’s Director of Athletics Mike Watson, Wildcat fans have been allotted 1,000 adult and 1,000 student tickets for the big game
Adult tickets are $5 each. Adults range from sixth-graders to grandma and grandpa.
Student tickets, for kindergartners through fifth-graders, are $3 each.
Advance tickets went on sale Tuesday afternoon. They will continue to be sold at the Oxford Stadium ticket office (745 N. Oxford Rd.) from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday and from 1-4 p.m. on both Thursday and Friday.
For those unable to attend the game, Oxford Community Television Channel 97 will broadcast it at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 29 and again at 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 3.
Folks looking for a party are encouraged to sign up for a fun, family event being hosted by Oxford’s cheerleaders on the night of the big game. Festivities begin at 5 p.m. in the OHS south parking lot with a pep rally/tailgate party that will include lots of Wildcat spirit and hot dogs. At 5:45 p.m., buses will transport party-goers to the game in Lake Orion and bring them home when it’s all over.
The cost is $14 for adults and $12 for students. Price includes a game ticket, hot dog meal combo and round-trip busing.
Registration by 12 noon Friday is absolutely required to attend this event. To sign up, call Kristen Hulbert at (248) 628-1846.
Proceeds will help the Oxford cheer program purchase new practice mats. ? CJC
