A day for future pilots

Pontiac Miniature Aircraft Club hosts a Takeoff and Grow Day, 10 a.m.-3 p.m., Sunday, June 19.
New pilots of all ages are invited to learn to fly radio-controlled airplanes, with the help of club flight instructors.
Participants use computer simulators to learn about the flight control system. Then they fly a real radio-controlled trainer plane, linked to an instructor through a “buddy box.”
The free event is at the club’s flying field on White Lake Road, west of Andersonville Road and east of Teggerdine Road. Food and soft drinks’will be available.
Club members meet to fly their planes every Thursday, 6 p.m., at the air field, weather permitting. The non-profit club was chartered by the Academy of Model Aeronautics in 1965. For more information, check www.pmac.us.?
