Fifth grader spells success

Ashley Dunlap, fifth grader at Andersonville Elementary, finished in the top five in the county at the spelling bee regional competition, March 11 at Oakland Schools intermediate district building.
“It runs in the family ? everybody knows how to spell,” said Dunlap, daughter of Jeff and Laurie Dunlap of Springfield Township.
She advanced to regionals after winning the Andersonville Elementary bee last December.
She trained for the spelling bees online at Myspellit.com.
“It has a lot of challenging words they use in spelling bees,” she said. “I’ll probably try again next year.”
Ninety-five students in Oakland County who won local school bees competed in the regional bee.
