Roadwork on Dixie Highway has begun, but you may not have noticed it yet. Right now, crews are only coming out at night to videotape sewer lines.
According to Rob Morosi of the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT), workers are marking sections of damaged sewer lines to be repaired or replaced. Drivers might see single-lane closures at night through April as a result of this preliminary work for the Dixie Highway resurfacing project.
‘We’ll start the bridge work in earnest? just after Memorial Day, said Morosi.
Work includes replacing a bridge over the Clinton River, north of Hatchery Road just south of Sashabaw and repairing the bridge north of Andersonville Road.
After April, drivers can expect lane closures on Dixie Highway near those projects.
In addition to repairing sewer lines and bridges, MDOT will install and update traffic signals as well as repair sidewalks, gutters, and curbs. The project to resurface nine miles of Dixie Highway from Telegraph Road in Waterford Township, through Independence Township, to just north of I-75 in Springfield Township will cost about $19.2 million.
