The first reading of an ordinance amendment to raise the sewer rate for single family residential units in the Village of Oxford was approved 4-0 by council Tuesday. The proposed increase of sewer rates from $18.26 to $22.85 per month (a $4.59 hike) drew no public comment during the public hearing. Increased operational charges from Oakland County and the Detroit Water and Sewerage Dept. were cited by officials as reasons for the increase. The second reading and adoption is scheduled for Tues., Aug. 12.
