Dixie Highway and Sashabaw Road, Independence Township’s main corridors, have been the main focus of work while reviewing the township’s Master Plan, said township Trustee, Ron Richie, who also serves on the Planning Commission.
The commission and Zoning Board of Appeals are updating the Master plan, which must be reviewed and updated every five years.
Richie said the north Sashabaw district will include larger setbacks to help preserve scenic features, so when commercial development occurs, it will not destroy the scenery.
On Dixie Highway, the ZBA and Planning Commission has been working to improve aesthetics and increase traffic flow.
