Ortonville – Ortonville Night at the Movies, was everything Paul Zelenak, Ortonville village manager, hoped and planned for it to be.
A resounding success!
On Friday, July 25 more than 300 parents and children snuggled into blankets and beach chairs for a nostalgic night of a drive-in feature on the grounds of H.T. Burt and Harvey-Swanson Elementaries.
‘I am very pleased at the turn out and really thankful to all the volunteers who made it a success,? Zelenak said.
‘We’re hoping we can draw on the success and do it again next year, with two movie nights.?
In fact, according to Zelenak, drive-in attendees have already donated funds to insure a repeat performance will be scheduled for next summer.
Quick to give credit for the success to over 30 volunteers and donors, Zelenak is agamete the movie night event occurred strictly because of the energy donated by members of the community, emphasizing that it was not an official event.
‘This event successfully was put on, without any problems, by the people in the community.?
Volunteers and donors made everything possible from the mounted police and the squealing of the pre-movie moon walk, to concession treats dished out by parent organizations, to Carl the jesterous announcer to contented parents tucking children into sleeping bags setteled for the show.
But the true success of the volunteers who made Ortonville Night at the Movies a possiblity could be measured by the smiles on the faces of all those who experienced a ‘night back in time?.
Encore.
