Several businesses along Baldwin Road are showing they’re about much more than simply turning a profit.
The three businesses participating in the sidewalk sale are located at the Orion Plaza on Baldwin Road across from Great Lakes Athletic Club.
The three are looking to take some stress off customer’s wallets while helping hungry children in the process.
Baldwin Eye Care, The Hair Inn of Orion, and Spartan Nutrition have all teamed up to work with Blessings in a Backpack – Oxford and host a weekend sale from July 23-25.
‘We heard about Blessing in a Backpack and with it being this time of year we wanted to help with that,? Baldwin Eye Care Manager Gayana Gonzalez said.
Blessing in a backpack is a non-profit organization that feeds school children in the United States, Many come from families fed during the week through federal funding but run the risk of going hungry on the weekends.
This weekend’s event is centered around customers bringing in school supplies or non-perishable food items and receiving big discounts on products and services the three businesses specialize in.
‘A lot of us have children and we have seen, heard, and run across kids at schools that aren’t as blessed as your kids are and you just want to help any way you can,? Owner of The Hair Inn, Melissa Lewis said.
If customers bring in those items, The Hair Inn of Orion is offering $5 haircuts for kids along with other discounts on beautician services for adults.
Baldwin Eye Care, which has held several sales aimed at kids, is now extending many offers for adults.
During that weekend, people can just walk in and they’ll have kids packages for frames and lenses starting at $60 and adults are eligible for discounts as high as 75 percent. They will also have a large gift basket filled with school supplies and any customer that goes to either of the two business can enter to win the basket.
Spartan Nutrition will have many products on sale that range from weight loss supplements, protein bars, and muscle growth and recovery.
