On Aug. 1, Good Times in Goodrich returns for a day of fun for the whole family.
‘It’s a day shorter and three weeks earlier this year, but we’ve packed it with more vendors and some new activities in Goodrich,? said Jenny McKenzie, committee chairwoman.
At 8 a.m. the weekend will kick off with the annual Kayla O’Mara Memorial Road Race, featuring a 5k and 10k race along with a 1/2 mile Fun Run starting at Goodrich High School.
At 10 a.m., some classic cars roll in for the Good Times in Goodrich Car Show along Erie Street. The parade presented by the Atlas Township Fire Department marches down Hegel Road at 10:30 a.m.
‘The pie eating contest is back by popular demand’it’s messy but fun,’said McKenzie. ‘Many of the other popular events, including, duck races and some local bands, will also be jamming downtown. This year new is the four-vs-four volleyball tournament and the four-vs-four tug-o-war competition in the Goodrich Commons area? . It all should be great fun for the family.?
Also new this year will be the beer tent presented by the Goodrich County Club for those 21 years old and up.
The movie in the park this year will be Disney’s, ‘Big Hero 6? presented by Valley Tent Rental. Cost is $2 per person or $8 max per family. According to Disney, the movie line is a special bond that develops between plus-sized inflatable robot Baymax, and prodigy Hiro Hamada, who team up with a group of friends to form a band of high-tech heroes.
‘We’ll also have a family movie in the park, so bring your lawn chairs and blankets.?
‘It’s great to play in my hometown. Always a pretty good crowd in Goodrich and it’s nice to see my neighbors out there.?
