Pedestrian killed on M-15

On Feb. 26, at approximately 7:05 p.m., Brandon deputies responded to a fatal pedestrian crash on Ortonville Road just north of Viola Drive. The Crash Reconstruction Unit shut down Ortonville Road for three hours for investigation.
A 63-year-old Groveland Township resident was driving a Toyota Rav 4 northbound on Ortonville Road when she struck a 36-year-old male Brandon Township resident who was crawling across the roadway according to witnesses. Upon arrival, deputies found that the pedestrian was obviously deceased.
The area where the pedestrian was struck was not a designated crosswalk and he was dressed in dark clothing. Brandon Township Fire Department paramedics was unable to resuscitate the pedestrian. Alcohol may be a factor on the part of pedestrian, though the crash remains under investigation.
The driver was wearing a seat belt and was not injured. No foul play was identified.
