Goodrich— After almost 20 years with the Goodrich School District, Joy Moll, central office executive assistant to the superintendent will step down effective July 31. Moll has accepted the position of high school secretary at Johannesburg-Lewiston Area Schools.
“This is the school district that both my husband and I graduated from,” she said.  “We still have friends and family in the area and we are very excited to be able to return, start building our retirement home in Lewiston, and become a part of the community again.”
Moll’s career at Goodrich started in 2005 and included eight superintendents, Kim Hart, Larry Allen, John Fazer, Scott Bogner, Michelle Imbrunone, Ryan Relken, Wayne Wright and currently Mike Baszler.
“In my role of supporting the superintendent, the board of education, administration and staff, I do not get to work directly with students,” she said.  “It is my hope that I have been able to provide support to the people on the front lines of education, who make amazing things happen in the lives of Goodrich students, every day.”
Moll reflected on more than two decades of education and the biggest challenge has been the COVID-19 pandemic.
“That was a crazy time in education,” she said.  “At the beginning, when we closed our doors and sent students and staff home, it was only my superintendent, one of our tech support staff, and me reporting in-person each day.  There was so much coming at us and so much changing, sometimes within the course of a day.  All schools were faced with decisions they had never had to make before.  While my job description says ‘Other duties as assigned,’ I never would have thought that I would be conducting face mask fittings, or scheduling vaccines for staff, testing students for COVID, or conducting contact tracing. I don’t even know how we got our daily work done during that time.”
Goodrich has been a wonderful place to live and to raise my children, she said.
“Goodrich Area Schools gave me a solid career and I am grateful for the resources invested in me, that helped me grow personally and professionally,” she said.
“But what I am most grateful for are the relationships that I have built in my role.  These hardworking, loving, supportive folks are truly my work ‘family’ and my Goodrich community.  The amazing staff has shown me grace, patience, love and support through some of the best and worst times of my life.  I will miss these faces, but I take so many wonderful memories with me.”
