The Lake Orion High School Art Club is sponsoring a public live art auction in the school’s auditorium on March 14. The proceeds are helping to send the club to Pittsburgh this summer. Items being auctioned include drawings, paintings, jewelry and ceramics
A preview begins at 4 p.m. and the auction, featuring professional quality work at affordable prices, starts at 5 p.m.
A gallery showing of art work from all the art classes at the high school will be in the auditorium entrance.
Competitively, this has been LOHS? best year. Six students with portfolios went on to nationals in the Scholastic Art competition.

The Orion Art Center is looking for entries for the All Media Show, coming in March.
Entry drop-off is Feb. 23, 10 a.m.-8 p.m., Feb. 24, 10 a.m.-5 p.m., and Feb. 25, 11 a.m.-2 p.m.
Exhibition dates include an opening reception on March 1, and the show running at the OAC at 115 S. Anderson from March 1-31.
The show moves to the Orion Township Library, April 4-28.
Pick up for unsold artwork is May 2-4 at the library, located at 825 Joslyn Road.
Entries are open to Michigan artists of all mediums.
Artists may enter up to three pieces, and the entry fee is $25 for OAC members and $35 for guests.
All entries must be original works of art, completed by the artist within the past two years.
All artwork must be framed and mounted for hanging.
The OAC will take a commission of 25 percent on all artwork sold.
All artwork, sold or otherwise, will remain on-site for the duration of the show.
Awards include $300 for Best of Show, $200 for First Place, $100 for Second Place, and $75 for Third Place.
Honorable Mentions will be $50 and $25.

The Orion Art Center is having a drop-off art class for kids on Feb. 11, 10 a.m.-12 p.m. at the center at 115 S. Anderson.
Kids five years and up are welcome. Create with M.B. Bishop, painting and decorating glass candy jars, to fill with sweets for your sweet for Valentine’s Day.
The kids will also make hand-stamped/embellished cards.

Sign up for youths and adults is now underway for winter classes at the OAC.
Classes include: Techniques in Drawing (Thursdays, Feb. 9-March 9, 7-9 p.m.), Watercolor Workshops (Tues., Feb. 28 and March 14, 9:30 a.m.-3 p.m.), and Experimental Painting (Wednesdays, March 15-April 5, 7-9 p.m.).
Classes are open to the public, and special young children’s classes are offered on designated Saturdays.
The deadline for class registration is three days prior to the start of class, if openings are available.
Class fees may be paid by cash, check, Visa or MasterCard.
