A cappella contest

Clarkston High School Vocal Music Department hosts the International Championship of High School A Cappella this Saturday at the high school’s performing arts center, 7 p.m.
The competition features six competing high school a cappella groups from Michigan, Ohio, and Wisconsin, including two groups from Clarkston High School, the Madrigals and Concert Choir. Each group is competing for a chance to advance to the finals in New York City.
“We really hope the community comes out in support of our talented and dedicated singers. It would be great to see a packed house full of Clarkston pride rooting on the Madrigals and Concert Choir.” said Brian Haverkate, Vocal Music Director at Clarkston High School.
In addition to the competing groups, Central Harmony from Central Michigan University will perform and emcee the event.
Clarkston’s own Detroit Voice will also be making a special appearance in the show as the judges make their final decisions.
Tickets are $10 general admission and are available at the door. For more information, visit www.clarkstonchoirs.com or e-mail bdhaverkate@clarkston.k12.mi.us.
