A column by Maria Rotondo-Mark

Just as we consult a roadmap for travel, is there a map for navigating daily life?
‘Do unto others as you would have others do unto you.? Of course, this would be fine and dandy provided others had a value placed on ‘self-based respect.?
As one observes actions of grave offense to others at the perception of gain to the individuals, who may not have a value assigned to self is being portrayed as a norm of the times.
How can society recover economically, emotionally, personally or otherwise without asking, ‘what is going on and how can I make a difference??
Possibly by engaging choice and consequence is a good beginning. Thought precedes actions and actions have consequences.
What is our human connector? How did we learn to disregard our fellow human beings for the sake of money or better known as business. Is it possible to behave one way in business actions and another way in personal matters?
Who wrote the rulebook on dual actions, for business and personal? Are there copies available, or could it be an un-published phenomena taught by example. Before we get more entangled in the web of who did what, to whom and when did it begin.
Let’s take a moment to surrender the questions and engage a higher order of business. ‘The golden rule? of we will reap what we sow, commonly known as choice and consequences.
This article is merely a reminder for me to stay on course, and anyone who could use a reinforcement, ‘what looks like may not always be what is,? when in doubt, a pause is good. The law of respect is the early life learned process, if it was not introduced then, definitely many detours could be realized until the school of hard knocks kicks in.
This could be the turnaround for some, as to consider outcome of choices prior to actions with respect to self and others.
Fortunately, the economic slowdown inspires me to continue my course of reflect, interact, process and express. Thank you to my community for validating and encouraging this column to reach out and hopefully plant seeds of encouragement.

To all of you avid supporters of my column, I am temporarily fresh out of wisdom.
I look around, I observe behavior, I listen to the unspoken and the spoken, rarely tune into televised news, at this time, I simply wait to gather my consciousness and carefully examine my choices.
For more than thirty years, I have been on a course of self-expression; in the hopes that my life altering lessons could serve my fellow man and contribute to prevention.
Today I turn to you my friends to examine your choice, accept responsibility respectfully and carry on to the best of one’s ability.
The blame and complain game is fresh out of season, whatever seems like may not be, whatever appears questionable, may just be a good time to pause and reflect.
It’s interesting when there’s nothing to say how much is said.
Fear seems to be spreading like manure, hopefully during the decomposing process the methane gases are filtered out and the good prevails to grow the healthier, more balanced crops.
As I look back to before starting my business of serving my community with
‘Hair Emergencies? at MakeOver Place salon fear was a huge hurdle I needed to climb. After all my deliberations, education, weighing the odds of failing, I read the book ‘Fear Fear and do it anyway?. That was seventeen years ago.
An all time frequently visited quote from my first book ‘Awaken Your Thoughts? is, ‘The reward is no greater than the risk taken to achieve it.?
Whenever self-doubt enters, did I do the right thing, have I examined my choices carefully, have I risked too much, at this point it is ‘all-good.? The risk is to take no action when one’s personal value is at risk.
Stay tuned to life lessons as they unfold, one story at a time, time and again?
Hopefully out of the open space of nothing to be said, the heart carries peace and harmony to one and all.

It is a miracle that we are here on this earth, during this time of economic transformation. Individually and collectively, we have the tools built within us to take on the challenge of attitude adjustments. Let’s keep planting seeds of accountability, respect, commitment, empathy, support, forgiveness and all other ways to keep the miracle of connectedness working through each of us. We have been unaware of the demotion of human worth. Human value has been replaced with goods and services humans produce. This is an opportunity to balance the equation. ‘The world we made pulled us apart and the world that was given, pulls us together.? (Thank you to my friend Karen for your awakened thought.)
There are no quick fixes, no gimmicks to market, a mere decision to bring human worth to a marketable level. No one outside of self is able to accomplish this mission. God has equipped each of us with the tools to make it; it is called the will to choose. An amazing miracle built into our human consciousness.
‘What God has joined together, let no man put asunder.?
This quote has been commonly used in marriage vows. As I learn and grow, I realize a much bigger purpose it begins with each of us respecting another with similar inalienable rights.
If this teaching were in early life, there could be hope for ‘human friendly existence?.
If this is a seed, I know I have chosen good soil to plant it on. Those of you, who frequent MakeOver Place salon, you are honorably appreciated. For those who read my column in the Clarkston News, online, home delivery, or at local, Clarkston News stands, thank you. This expression brings purpose to my life works, for it is nothing unless I take the risk to share it with you, my community family.
We rejoice in our triumphs and we are humbled by the challenges; this is truly an essential reality.
A together, yet singly embraced challenge, making the most with the least economically.
With progress of bigger and better ways of accomplishing multiple functions instantaneously; some elementary basics may have been forgotten as, who am I, how did I get here, where am I headed, who is in charge and what is the prize?
How are my relationships, are my priorities in place, what is my worth, am I worthy, am I respectful, do I ask questions, who has the answers?
All I know is to keep asking questions, the answers are short lived they always bring new questions and new possibilities?
I am humbly grateful to be here sharing with my community in this time of ‘transformational movement.?
Thank you for being partners for a better society in deed?
WE unite with purpose, WE unite with values, we are capable of miracles let’s keep spreading the seeds of HOPE WE are a MIRACLE. An acronym for MIRACLE is, Making, Important, Realities, Available, Collectively and Lovingly Expedited.
In this New Year, 2009 we are fully capable to persevere, let’s adjust our attitude while aligning the individual self with renewed faith and self-worth, we are worthy.
