Ortonville-Flowers are back in town.
Elaine Hanes opened A Dime in Time Florist Shop, 417 Mill St., Ortonville on Oct. 1.
A grand opening and floral tribute to the community is planned for 4-7 p.m., Nov. 20 at the downtown store.
“I want people to come and get beautiful flowers at a reasonable cost, you don’t have to wait for someday,” said Hanes, who has taken to spreading flower petals outside on downtown sidewalks. “Come in and be happy.”
Hanes, who began working in the floral industry 28 years ago, said she was inspired to open a storefront in the area this past summer when she wanted to take flowers to a friend and stopped at the former Willow Pointe Flowers shop and discovered it had closed.
“This town has been in dire need,” said Hanes. “I think once people realize I’m here they’ll be happy to know they have a florist again. Every small town needs a flower shop where they can come and get everyday flowers or for all occasions.”
Hanes is a certified FTD shop and can receive and transmit orders locally and statewide.
She offers free delivery to village businesses and delivery is $10 to addresses within the Ortonville and Goodrich zip codes.
A Dime in Time is ready to serve all your needs for the holidays and Hanes has already had a customer book her services for a wedding.
While she is just starting her business and has no flower coolers as yet in the shop, she gets fresh flowers regularly from a wholesaler, and can custom make bouquets and more with 24-hour notice or even while you wait.
The shop has a book from which to make selections, and also is a TY stuffed toys retailer.
“I strive for impeccable customer service and quality flowers that will last,” said Hanes.
A Dime in Time is open 9 a.m.-6 p.m., Monday through Friday and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday. Open by appoinment only on Sundays. Details: 248-793-3777 or
