Daniel Axford second-graders got a local blast from the past last week as they toured the Northeast Oakland Historical Museum in downtown Oxford.
The kids learned about Oxford’s history as the ‘Gravel Capital of the World? and as the home of Brace Beemer, the radio actor who played the Lone Ranger.
They also learned about the old tools people used for everyday activities such cooking, farming and washing clothes.
Watching the kids go through the museum was a reminder of just how fortunate this community is to have such a place.
The volunteer-run museum is open year-round on Saturdays from 1-4 p.m. and during the summer on Wednesdays from 1-4 p.m.
Private or group tours are available upon request by calling (248) 628-8413.
