Ken Price of AAA Michigan in Orion Township gathered safety patrol kids from elementary schools in Lake Orion for a pizza party at Friendship Park recently, to reward them for their service. AAA sponsors the safety program for schools, and local agents do a recognition event at the end of each school year. Coldstone Creamery provided free ice cream for the event, and the children received certificates recognizing their service. The program has about 200 fifth-graders working as safety patrollers. Price said the safety program is currently in all the elementary schools in Lake Orion, except for Orion Oaks, who will have a program next year.
