Police were seeking warrants Monday for both an 18-year-old Independence Township woman, and the 21-year-old boyfriend she is accused of stabbing in the hand with a screwdriver.
The man called the Oakland County Sheriff’s Department to report the assault, claiming that a fight erupted over feeding Pop Tarts to the woman’s young daughter and niece.
The woman, however, was transported to the Oakland County Jail on domestic assault charges and stated that her boyfriend became aggressive when she threatened to expose him for allegedly breaking into several homes. She claimed the man had told her of a plan to kick in the door to the apartment they were staying in to take suspicion off himself.
Deputies found a duffel bag containing three stolen handguns, and the man was taken into custody and transported to the North Oakland Medical Center for medical clearance before he could be lodged at the OCJ.
While waiting for clearance, the man assaulted a deputy and escaped custody, but was apprehended after a 12 minute chase.
He was then taken to the OCJ on counts of criminal conspiracy, and receiving and concealing stolen property.
