Atlas Twp. — At 2:20 p.m., July 11, Atlas Township Fire Department responded to a structure fire on Horton Road between Ridge Road and M-15. When firefighters arrived the attached garage was engulfed and breaching into the home.
A resident home at the time reported they had heard a loud bang, exited the structure and could see smoke coming from the garage. A side-by-side and propane tank were in the garage at the time, while a vehicle was parked in the driveway.
There were no injuries and the fire remains under investigation.
Brandon, Davison and Groveland Township Fire Departments also responded to the blaze.
“A thank you to all the departments that responded and assisted with water,” said ATFD Assistant Chief Ed Klimek. “It’s difficult during the mid-day to find firefighters since many departments are shorthanded.”
