Centennial Park in downtown Oxford is the place to be every Thursday from 7-9 p.m. as the Downtown Development Authority conducts its popular summer concert series. Bring a blanket, bring a chair, just make sure to be there.
Backyards & Burgers 2012 was certainly a profitable event for the Oxford Downtown Development Authority (DDA), but not so much for businesses within the district. According to a report prepared by DDA Administrative Assistant Maria Martin, the DDA took in a grand total of $24,985 in profits from the four-day event in May. That consisted […]
Last week was the official start of summer and oh, what a glorious week it was, filled with plenty of sunshine, blue skies and warm breezes. Now is the time for everyone to slow down, kick back and enjoy the splendor of this all-too-short Michigan season. Take that vacation you’ve been putting off. Give the […]
‘Twenty to thirty years (in prison) on a guy this old is a life sentence.? That’s how Oakland County Chief Assistant Prosecutor Paul Walton characterized the future for Robert Brian Kelly, who pleaded guilty last week to the murder of his 20-year-old daughter, Megan Roberts. Last week, the DDA board voted 7-0 to withdraw $165,934 from its investments through Oakland County in order to pay the village for invoices from the 2010-11 fiscal year. ‘Aside from a few bills, we believe we’ve come to a […]

Last week, Martin presented a report she compiled on how the Backyards & Burgers […]
School is out, but apparently one group of youngsters wasn’t done learning for the summer. Forty-six inquisitive children, ranging from first through sixth-graders, attended Camp Invention last week held at Clear Lake Elementary School. During the week-long enrichment program, participants learned valuable problem-solving and teamwork skills, while enhancing their knowledge of science and math.
If Oxford Village officials want to find out what happened to the municipality’s missing $20,000 in property tax funds from 2010, the next step is to conduct a forensic audit. That was the recommendation of Michigan State Police Det. Sgt. Joseph White at last week’s council meeting. Before there can be any type of criminal […]
