Band members earn honors

Nine Clarkston students won spots in the All State Honors Band for middle and high school.
Sashabaw Middle School Band members Caelan Stewart, french horn, first chair; Maia Girard, flute, fifth chair; Katie Gipe, flute, seventh chair; Rachel Quinn, flute, ninth chair; and Harrison Smith, french horn, fourth chair; and Clarkston High School Band members Morgan Brisse, clarinet, third chair; Michael Gieske, bassoon, second chair; Shannon Goebel, french horn, seventh chair; and Kevin Thompson, tuba, second chair, were among 360 students chosen out of 1,600 auditions. The honors band performed at the Michigan Music Conference this past January.
They were honored by Clarkston Board of Education at its March 9 meeting.
