Big issues at next village meeting

Oxford Village residents interested in the future of their water system and learning more about cityhood should plan on attending the 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 22 council meeting.
Council is expected to decide which of the four bidders will be be constructing the village’s new water treatment plant.
Bids range from $2.4 to $2.7 million. Village water users are facing a potential rate increase of up to 22 percent depending on what council decides.
Council has also invited Sylvan Lake attorney Tom Ryan to speak on the issue of cityhood and answer questions from the public. Ryan is the attorney who’s been handling all cityhood-related issues for the village for the past few years. He helped Clarkston incorporate as a city in the 1990s.
Village voters will decide whether or not to proceed with the cityhood process during the Aug. 5 primary election. ? CJC
