Brandon’s girls tennis team is heading toward the home stretch of its season and hanging tough in its meets.
At the Flint Metro League meet Sept. 30, Brandon placed third overall with nine points. Holly finished first with 23 points, while Fenton finished second with 15.
On Sept. 25, Davison defeated the Blackhawks 5-3. Brandon won two of four singles matches and one of four doubles matches.
In singles action, Brandon’s Amanda Bohr defeated Ashley Payne at #3 singles 6-1, 3-6, 6-3, while Monica Lambert defeated Ericka Rice at #4 singles 6-2, 6-1. Katie Streeter defeated Nicole Barth at #1 singles 6-0, 6-0, and Jessica Braham defeated Jessica Sanday at #2 singles 4-6, 6-4, 6-4.
Brandon’s lone doubles win came at #1 doubles, as Nicole Schurke and Michelle Ashford defeated Kristen Ellsworth and Lindsay Ellsworth 6-4, 6-2. Sara Rickard and Cayla Bennett defeated Danie Ashford and Elizabeth Bilbey at #2 doubles 6-4, 6-2; Lindsay Prieur and Kristy Dockery defeated Christa Nedry and Susan Gajdos at #3 doubles 6-3, 7-6 (7-2); and Carolyn Whaite and Amanda Rossman defeated Jill Perry and Lauren Dixon at #4 doubles 6-3, 6-3.
The Blackhawks will be competing in regional action Sept. 9.
