On Nov. 8, the Brandon Blackhawks lost in the District Finals to Notre Dame Prep 54-40, in Pontiac ending the season 8-3.
Blackhawk QB Micah Miller completed 25 passes on 35 attempts for 375 yards and 3 touchdowns passing along with 1 rushing. Senior Adrien Williams had 6 receptions for 146 yards and 2 touchdowns, Junior Brandon Gunn 9 receptions for 90 yards.
On defense Junior Peyton Gulledge had 10 tackles, Senior Josh Dubiel had 7 tackles with 1 sack, Junior Alex Griffiths 8 tackles with 1 sack. Senior Kenyontae Turner 1 interception for 33 yards and a touchdown. Turner also had a receiving touchdown.
Junior Jawon Slater had 5 tackles and 1 interception.
The Blackhawks tallied their third eight-win season in four years after having just three in previously since 1951. The Blackhawks have now reached the playoffs in five straight seasons for the first time in school history. The Blackhawks are 29-7 in regular season the past four years. The past season success is part of a 31-11 record for Zube in his four seasons including four playoff appearances.
“Going into the off-season last year we graduated 18 starters,” said Zube, following Fridays game. “We did not know what this year’s team was going to look like. But, an 8-3 season and a playoff win, we are very proud of this team and the contributions from many players that stepped up big time. “
Seniors Noah Jackson, Adrien Williams, and Josh Dubiel, along with Junior Colton Leslie, stepped up and lead this team.
“Sophomore Quarterback Micah Miller did a great job this year,” said Zube. “He has a great career ahead of him as a Blackhawk.”
Blackhawk coaches also did an outstanding job this season, added Zube.
