Blackhawks rally for 4-3 win over Kearsley

Brandon Twp. — The Brandon Blackhawks Varsity Baseball team continued their winning ways on Wednesday afternoon in a come from behind 4-3 win over the Kearsley Hornets.
“We didn’t start out well,” said Head Coach Greg Glover. “Still, the boys put it together and battled all game long for the win.”
Brady Wing pitched a complete game, supported by solid defense and timely hitting led by BHS Senior Carter Williamson with a triple. BHS Senior Tyler Griel added two hits.
The hot-hitting Blackhawks have won eight of their last 12 games and soaring just before the playoffs.
On May 11, the Brandon Blackhawk Varsity Baseball team pounded out 10 runs and defeated the host Bad Axe in the Hatchet Baseball Invitational at Bad Axe.
The Blackhawk offense was led by BHS Senior Carter Williamson along with BHS Junior’s Ben Misenar and Lance Briolat.
“We played solid defense all game which has been an issue for us throughout the season playing one of our better games,” said Blackhawk Head Coach Greg Glover.
The Blackhawks fell in the championship game to Unionville Sebewaing High School.
On May 18, the Blackhawks competed in the Williamson Cancer Awareness Tournament and finished runner up defeating a solid Montrose Ram team 10-5. The Blackhawks scored often on the  Rams behind strong pitching from BHS Jr. Brady Wing and solid defense from Senior Will Hubble and Tyler Griel playing exceptionally well in the outfield. The offense attack was provided by BHS Sr. Carter Williamson who played strong all day, as well as Junior Ben Misenar.
The Blackhawks lost in the championship game to the top ranked Powers Catholic Chargers.
“Really proud of how the kids played against Powers, we made a couple of mistakes defensively, but the kids never dropped their heads and gave their best against a good Powers team,” said Glover. “I’m really happy with how the boys have played in the second half of the season with contributions from pretty much everyone.”
