Blackhawks tame Mustangs in homecoming win

Brandon Twp. — The Brandon Blackhawks Varsity Football team dominated the Clio Mustangs on homecoming 56-12 with a balanced attack on the ground and in the air Sept. 27.
“Always nice to win homecoming,” said Head Coach Brad Zube. “Everyone got to play. We got great contributions from multiple players.”
The Blackhawks were up 42-12 at halftime before the defense stepped up and shut out the Mustangs in the second half. The Blackhawks tagged on a pair of TDs in the second half. The Blackhawk offense exploded for a total 539 yards of offense with 259 yards rushing and 280 yards passing.
Lance Briolat completed 10 of 16 passes for 229 yards for 5 TD, then added one TD rushing. Damian Watton rushed 7 times for 88 yards; Luke Hanson was 5 for 69 yards and one TD and Andrew Zoch was two for 43 yards. Receiving Luke Hanson had three receptions for 108 yards and two TDs; Demetri McNeir had two for 48 yards; Danny Protiva had three receptions for 33 yards and a pair TDs; Andres Huerta and Sebastian Taylor each had a TD.
On defense Kurt Briolat seven tackles; Ethan Yang five tackles, one sack and a fumble recovery; Al Rowe five tackles and Luke Hanson one sack.
Nathan Elowsky was a perfect eight for eight on points after.
