Brandon Twp. —During the regular Monday night meeting, the Brandon Board of Education voted to increase the tuition rates for the Brandon preschool academy beginning next school year.
“It’s been at least eight years since an increase,” said District Chief Financial Officer Jan Ziesel.
Zeisel presented the board with a comparison to districts in the surrounding area. Currently, half-day tuition is $19 a day, which is lower than surrounding districts besides Holly School District. The full-day tuition rate is $34 per day.
“We are the lowest on that list,” she said. “And this is really important, we are the only five-star, highest rated program. So not only are we the lowest cost, we are putting out a really good program for students.”
Ziesel also said that they would have gone to the board three years ago for a tuition increase, but they were able to supplement with ESSER funds.
“Our costs are going up, but we were fortunate, like many schools to receive some federal funding,” she said. “So we were able to hold these low rates longer than we would have otherwise.”
The increased rates will be $25 per day for half-day tuition, and $50 per day for full-day tuition. There will also be an added $50 registration fee.
