Boating accident injures teen

A 15-year-old male from Chesterfield Township was hospitalized following a boating accident July 21 on Lakeville Lake.
According to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Department, the victim was water boarding when he was struck by the power boat that had been pulling him.
The boat was driven by a 22-year-old Chesterfield Township man.
Apparently, the victim fell off his board while being pulled by a ski rope. A 20-year spotter in the boat misjudged the location of the victim, which led to the boat’s propeller striking the 15-year-old’s right arm, according to the report.
The victim was transported to POH Regional Medical Center for surgery.
Alcohol does not appear to be involved.
