Booters fall in semifinals

The Lady Booters season came to an end after losing 4-0 against Rochester High School on May 30 at the MHSAA District semifinals.
‘We played for a really good 33 minutes against Rochester. Then we gave up a goal and then I think we ran out of gas,? said Head Coach Larry Ferris. ‘We had a good run, just couldn’t get over the hump.?
While they didn’t go as far as they would have liked, Ferris said he is proud of his girls and said they gained lots of confidence and respect.
‘These are red division teams loaded with talent and I think we did very well representing Oxford out there in a very tough division. Our division is the ‘division of death? they call it,? he said. ‘We were competitive in every game we played.?
The girls ended their season with 5-11-2 record Ferris attributed goalkeeper Darien Bandel, to being a big part of their game.
‘She held us in there very strong, no question about it along with the front line in front of her, anchored by Alana Carroll and then the Medici sisters (Samantha and Christina) and Emily Kargetta,? he said. ‘Christina Medici had a great year in defending and a stellar year as a freshman.?
As far as next year goes, Ferris said he is only losing four seniors and has some JV players who shined this year, who are ready to fill in those holes.
‘I’m really looking forward to next year I think we’re going to be really good. We just got to keep our heads screwed on straight,? he said. ‘We’re getting a lot of the team back so we should be good.?
