Oxford’s soccer-playing Wildcats are proving to be one of the best teams in the OAA Blue division this season.
The team is 3-1-1 in league play following a 2-2 tie last week with Farmington Hills Harrison.
In the Harrison match, Oxford got a quick start less than 10 minutes into the match when senior Jake Wysocki took a quick re-start on a corner kick to nearby Travis Simat, who dribbled to the near post and put a shot over the Hawk’s keeper.
Harrison tied the game before halftime.
In the second half, Oxford again struck quickly when Simat ripped a low cross pass into the box that Wysocki poked past the goalkeeper for a 2-1 lead.
With only six minutes remaining in the game, Harrison got a quick break and beat the Wildcat’s backline for a score.
Oxford’s freshman goalkeeper Connor Bandel made several big saves to keep the Cats in the match.
Oxford’s overall record is 4-4-1.
